Join in for this four-part series providing hands-on techniques for daily care of a person with dementia. Taught by veteran memory care director Steve Catoe, these classes will feature methods pioneered by dementia care experts Teepa Snow and Naomi Feil.
Part 3 of this series occurs on Tuesday, August 28 and introduces the new topic Teepa's GEMS: Using Skills that Make a Difference.
During this class you will:
- Develop an understanding of stages of dementia
- Learn strategies to facilitate positive, supportive communication between caregiver and care receiver
- Learn to respond to unmet needs
- Learn multi-modal helping techniques, emphasizing use of preserved abilities
