Regulations Session: 8-hour training on the Texas licensing standards. This course includes updates and proposed changes to the licensing standards. Legislative changes are also covered.
Continuing Education Session: 12-hour continuing education training on management of assisted living facilities. This course covers the state’s required content for management training. Participants may choose to complete 12 hours of the live training (in-person or via Zoom), or may be assigned 12 hours of self-paced training on TORCH University. These topics may include: resident characteristics (including dementia), resident assessment and skills working with residents; basic principles of management; food and nutrition services; federal laws, with an emphasis on the Americans with Disabilities Act’s accessibility requirements; community resources; ethics, and financial management.
NEW 12-Hour Crash Course: Get all 12 hours done on one day, the first day of the course! Class begins at 8:00 a.m., and there will be breaks for lunch and dinner.
Full 24-Hour Manager Training Session: 24-hour administrator's training on management of assisted living facilities. This course covers the state’s required content for management training. This course includes the 8-hour session above, plus an additional 16 hours of live or self-paced training on TORCH University. Topics may include: financial topics (budgeting, long-term-care insurance), fair housing, policies and procedures, fall prevention, dementia, elder law, food and nutrition, marketing, compassion fatigue and caregiver health topics, RN Delegation, HHSC LTC topics, Life Safety Code, and licensing information.
