After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Great Age Movement (GAM) was excited to host more than 200 attendees on Sunday, April 24, 2022 for their 4th Annual Jazz Brunch. Chaired by Joe and Kirin Wells, the sold-out event at The Health Museum celebrated GAM's previous achievements of opening their first senior playground and initiating an online health and wellness program for seniors.
Emceed by Art Rascon, the fun-filled jazz-inspired brunch honored Irma Galvan with the Great Age Movement Award and recognized Volunteer of the Year Robert Hale. Irma Galvan, owner of Irma’s Original Restaurant, is the first Latina to be given this award.
Other highlights of the brunch included:
- Remarks by The Health Museum CEO John Arcidiacono and Amanda Edwards
- A spirited live auction
- An energetic musical performance by Tianna Hall & The Houston Jazz Band
- Delicious brunch featuring signature red velvet pancakes and Belgian waffles, paired with charcuteries boards, an avocado toast bar, classic morning breakfast tacos and mimosas by award-winning Chef DeeDee Coleman
The event hit a high note with guests and sponsors contributing $81,000 to install a second senior playground in Houston and continue GAM's online wellness program at The Health Museum. Local Houston seniors will be excited to unleash their inner child on a brand-new playground built with them in mind.
The Senior Resource Guide was proud to once again be a sponsor of the Great Age Movement annual Jazz Brunch and provided attendees with complimentary copies of the Guide.
