How to Use a QR Code
The Senior Resource Guide is excited to announce its integration of QR codes in the guide, allowing for a more interactive experience for our audience and advertisers.
What is a QR code and who can use it?
The quick response (QR) code is simply a bar code that can store more data than the standard 10-digit bar code.
Anyone with a smartphone can scan and read QR codes with the click of their phone’s camera. They will need to do a one-time download of a free application which makes use of the phone’s camera.
Suggested Apps: ScanLife (Android Market) or QR Reader For iPhone (iTunes).
Expect to see QR codes associated with sharing:
- Maps and geo location: show where your location is. What better way to give directions, then by having it pull up on their phone and ready to navigate.
- Coupons, contests and special deals.
- A website or social media pages.
- Email address or phone numbers quickly and easily.
- How-to advice: rich content in the form of “How to” videos or guides.
- Marketing materials such as brochures.
- Pictures: pictures are worth a thousand words.
- Video: video is worth a million words. Property tours, product demonstrations…etc.
Check out SRG's digital versions under the PUBLICATIONS tab or get a little practice in with the code above. Have fun and happy scanning!
