What is the difference between "Short Term Rehabilitation Services" and "Long Term Care?"
Short-term care is temporary and goal oriented. It aims at providing rehabilitation services for residents to recover their independence. Short-term care stays can average a few weeks to a month or longer depending on the severity of condition. Long Term Care provides skilled nursing services indefinitely. It aims at providing personal care services for residents whose mental and physical condition may limit their ability to function on their own. Candidates for long term care could be individuals with chronic or progressive medical conditions.
Will my loved one have a doctor and what is staff to patient ratio?
Your loved one will be assigned an attending physician upon admission to the facility. The resident will be seen by their physician at least once every thirty days for the first ninety days after admission, and at least once every sixty days thereafter. If at any time the resident has a change in condition, the nurse has contact information for each attending physician and can receive orders via phone or fax as to how to proceed with the change in condition. Staff to patient ratio is constantly changing. Staffing ratio will differ from day to evening to night. Always ask how many nurses / aides are working in each area and how many residents are in each area to be cared for.
What is the meal service like and where are meals served?
Food is an enormous issue as people age and begin to lose a lot of their sensory sensitivity. Therefore, meal service is a very important aspect when looking at placement for a loved one. Meals are made to meet all dietary requirements and are palatable. Three meals are served daily, and snacks are provided three times a day or upon resident request. Residents have several menu options to choose from. Additionally, residents have a choice as to where they dine. We offer in-room dining, community dining, as well as private dining.
