Join in for a free informational seminar on Tuesday, June 14 at the San Marcos Activity Center, sponsored by Comfort Connection and Nurses Unlimited.
Presented by VeeCee Spear and Tami Martin, topics will include Medicare, Medicaid and Veterans' and Widows' VA benefits.
Some of the areas that will be discussed include dispelling myths on Medicaid such as:
- You have to spend down all your money before you can apply for Medicaid.
- If there is a couple and one enters the nursing facility, you have to spend down one half of your assets.
- If you give away your assets you have to wait three years to apply for Medicaid.
- You must be in a nursing facility to qualify for state benefits.
- Medicare pays for nursing facility care.
- You can get Medicaid if you are old.
- The state of Texas gets your home if you get Medicaid.
Other areas that will be discussed include Medicare benefit options, savings plans, supplements, services relating to caretakers and Meals on Wheels.
